The never ending carnival ride

Eventually, I had to go back into the Real World. The cupboards were bare, and cabin fever set in. I would have ventured out on my own on Friday, but looking at the sleet and snow coming down convinced me I should wait one more day.

On Saturday morning, I bounced like a teenager with a new driver's license while I waited for my husband to get ready for a trip to the Target. Freedom! My vision was fine and driving was no problem... until I needed to turn a corner. Apparently going left makes me want to fall over. By the time I parked, the world had begun to spin. That's ok, I can handle mildly queasy.

The first item on our list was a new humidifier. We'd discovered that the cool mist one we had been running was clogging the furnace filters, and leaving a gross white mist of minerals all over the house. A warm mist humidifier was a MUST for my tender sinuses!

By the time we got to the back of the store, I found myself plastered against a wall with my eyes closed. I'm pretty sure the entire store had turned into a roller coaster. My husband found himself explaining to the clerk at the checkout that no, I wasn't drunk as I staggering to her register. Well, that was fun! I let him drive home.

Since my boss had generously told me to take off as much time as I needed, I did ask to come back just half days. By afternoon, my eye seems to get the hang of focusing again, and the world stops spinning for a few hours.
Time to get ready for work. I used a Mary Kay coverup with a yellow base to begin, layered on thick. After it dried a bit, powder, and then Cover Girl coverup in a more pink shade, with powder in between each coat until I couldn't see the bruise. That took about a half hour.
Decent enough to pass. Getting it off at night is painful! You can also see in this photo that my upper lip is not quite right. My front teeth are still a bit numb, and my lip hasn't regained full movement, but I'm probably the only one who notices. Compare this photo to my before photo, and you can really see how far my eye has receded so far. As the swelling continues to reduce, I anticipate it will go in a bit more.

All in all, the healing process is going normally, and as expected - and I don't like it one bit! I have moments when everything comes effortlessly into focus, and that is delightful. But I spend most of my day feeling off camber, queasy and unsettled. I can't help but be anxious about surgery to the right eye, and going through all of this again.
